Bringing Nature into the Classroom
Stepaway Preschool offers unique experiences with nature and the environment to bring hands-on learning to a whole new level! Some activities our classes participate in include observing the lifecycle of the Monarch butterfly, building Native American longhouse replicas, digging for worms and learning how they are good for the soil and environment, observing items that compost versus trash/recycling, and bringing a sheep into the classroom to witness sheep-shearing and get to handle real wool.

The 2-Year-old Program
To ease the transition from home to school, our 2’s program serves as the first "step" in fostering independence. In this program, your child is gradually introduced to the classroom setting, beginning with the security of having a parent or caregiver present for the initial weeks. This supportive environment allows children to start building relationships with peers and teachers, ensuring they feel comfortable before completing the year independently.
The 3-Year-Old PROGRAM
The next "step" in your child’s journey is the 3-year-old program, where they learn to be more independent within a classroom setting. Our program offers a variety of experiences that support the development of the whole child. These include foundational skills in areas such as math, science, language arts, motor skills, and creative arts, designed to promote intellectual, physical, and social growth.
The 4-Year-Old Program
The 4-year-old program represents the "step" before elementary school, where children are given increased opportunities to grow in confidence and independence. The Pre-K 5's Program
Our Pre-K 5's program is geared toward Kindergarten readiness and enhancing social and emotional growth. For children who may need additional preparation before entering kindergarten, our Pre-K program offers that final "step" in their early education journey. Our Pre-K classroom is run much like a typical Kindergarten class and provides opportunities for cooperative group instruction as well as one-on-one instruction. We meet every child where they're at to ensure each child is ready for the next phase of learning.
